Mercosur Visa

If you are a citizen of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, or Uruguay, you can petition for a Mercosur visa in Colombia. Mercosur visas allow you to live in Colombia with work authorization for a period of 2 years, after which you can apply for permanent residency. What’s more, you can also petition for your spouse, children, or other dependents as derivatives so they can obtain visas also.

Requirements

• Passport Data Page

• Passport page with last entry stamp into Colombia

• Passport-style Photo on a white background

• Apostilled Criminal Background Check from your country of origin and any country of residence during the previous 3 years (both the Apostille and Background Check will need to be translated if in a language other than Spanish)

• Letter explaining why you want to live in Colombia, what your plans are in the country, and how you will support yourself

• Mercosur Visa Application

The supporting documents submitted must not exceed 5MB in total.

Government Visa Fee

Roughly $55 USD to apply, Roughly $271 USD for the Visa (the Colombian Foreign Affairs Ministry quotes in USD for stability)

Duration

The visa is valid for two years

Notes

• If the visa holder leaves Colombia for more than 6 months in a row, the visa is invalidated.

• The Mercosur visa can only be used once in a lifetime by an individual
